Circus meets Drag
House of Circus is a Circus Company and Drag house located in Amsterdam; Creating, producing and performing shows, acts and site-specific performances.
It was founded by Germain Iconnee and Nick van der Heyden, both graduated Bachelor from the Academy of Circus and Performance Art (ACAPA Tilburg, NL). Driven by their common passion for Circus and Drag, they develop their distinctive style of performing and creating by incorporating various skills such as, static trapeze, hand balancing, clowning, drag, makeup and costume design.
Versatile, adaptable and creative, they use their humor and wit to highlight their technical circus skills, using also theater and dance, as a full spectrum to experiment with. By creating and decorating characters, their goal is to make Drag accessible to everyone, regardless gender or age.
They wish to bring Drag from bars to theaters and reintroduce some glitter and fierceness to the circus. This combination is their definite match of artforms that reveals their unique universe.

1- Celebrate Artistry:
At the House of Circus Foundation, we believe in the power of arts and the potential of combining them. This blending of art forms creates a unique universe and a brand-new artistic expression. It pushes boundaries and defies categorization. We are constantly researching and exploring how these art forms collide, amplify, fuse, or even confuse each other. Through our creations, we aim to inspire fellow artists and audiences, sparking a new era of artistic exploration.
2- Educate and Engage Audiences:
The House of Circus Foundation recognizes the role of education, through understanding, and acceptance. We aim to educate and engage audiences through our performances, interviews and any other activities. By sharing our form of art we invite dialogue, challenge stereotypes, and promote a more inclusive society. Through these efforts, we want to break down barriers and create a sense of unity among diverse communities.
3- Amplifying LGBTQIA+ Visibility:
In a world where LGBTQIA+ rights are constantly under threat, The House of Circus Foundation recognises the necessity of being seen, heard, and respected. We firmly believe that representation matters, and by blending the art forms of circus and drag, we provide a stage for queer artists to express themselves, celebrate their identities and showcase their talent. We want to create a space where diverse voices are celebrated and where audiences witness the power of self-expression.

The House of Circus Foundation stands for acceptance, it promotes equality and creates an environment of respect and understanding. We recognize the importance of creating safe spaces where artists can flourish without fear of judgment or discrimination.
