We’re excited to announce that House of Circus has been selected for the Nieuwe Makers regeling (NMR) by the Performing Arts Fund NL (Fonds Podiumkunsten)
This marks the start of a two-year development trajectory, with TENT as our main partner.
Together with TENT who has supported us since the very beginning, along with Korzo theater, de Landing, Grote Post and CC Amstel, we’ll focus on the creation of two new performances, keeping the fusion of circus and drag while developing further topics, bold, theatrical, and socially engaged.
This trajectory gives us the space to grow both artistically and professionally. We’ll dive deep into questions around identity, self-expression, and power structures, and explore how drag and circus can speak to wider audiences. The process includes artistic labs, residencies, and collaborations with diverse groups of performers, designers, dramaturgs, coaches etc..
Our goal:
With circus and drag as our tools, we want to create space for stories and identities that don’t always get the spotlight. We hope our work can start conversations, invite different perspectives, and bring people together, especially those who don’t always see themselves reflected on stage. This trajectory gives us the chance to grow, not just for ourselves, but in how we connect with others and contribute to a more open and safer arts scene.
More to come, stay tuned!
